When we started Miro, we had one goal - to give everyone a free and open-source way to connect to media around the world. Miro is made by our non-profit organization - PCF. Which has a mission to empower people. Now every month millions of people use Miro, including you!

We want to keep Miro free and open. But our very small budget depends on donations from users and we are facing serious shortfall going into 2012. We need your help to keep Miro alive.

A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM JANET DRAGOJEVIC, MIRO QA DIRECTOR

The projects of the Participatory Culture Foundation promote discovery and accessibility of ideas in the video space.

A teacher trainer wrote to us for assistance. She needed to download a video about climate change, translate it into Tamil and screen it for her students (future teachers) in an area with very limited internet access. Only one of the soon-to-be-teachers had ever seen a photo of the earth from space! She is using Miro and the open web to give future teachers a global perspective.

Free software and the open web is the pathway to aspirations. Open source, open media and the open web allow us to control the vision; seek out sources of knowledge and ideas, re-form them into unique expressions, or build something completely different from the foundation.

It is the home of the new melting pot; the open air bazaar where people displaying and sharing their creations, are inspiring others to create, support and spread the genius.

We need to continue to promote this open sharing, and we need your help.

Building Miro is difficult. And we do it with one of the smallest teams imaginable for a project of this scale, just a few people. We are facing a budget shortfall over the next few months and we need your help to keep Miro alive.

The next version of Miro is going to have some wonderful new features, like automatic song info lookup, album view, and dramatic performance improvements.

We are a non-profit organization, supported primarily by donations. To keep Miro alive and to keep it improving, we really need your help this year. Anything you can give will make a huge difference. Thank you.
