Miro 1.2.3 released: YouTube mp4s, bugs fixes, and updates
We’ve just released version 1.2.3 of Miro. Download it here.
What’s new:
* When you download videos from YouTube (whether by search or in a YouTube feed), we get an MP4 rather than a FLV, if it’s available. The video quality of the MP4s is much higher.
* Updated translations in lots of languages.
* We’ve updated the linux version to Mozilla 1.9.
* We’ve updated VLC on Windows to 0.8.6f (security fix).

I noticed the .mp4 change when i downloaded videos from youtube, but all the videos are titled “video.mp4″ and overwrite each other. also, they take incredibly slower to download if at all. I’m always stuck at “starting up”.

Thanks for the heads up. It apparently happens with some videos downloaded from YouTube, but not all of them. We made ticket 9922 (http://bugzilla.pculture.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9922) to track this issue and we will get it corrected.
